We are seeking a professional and courteous Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors at SDDM Hospital Jammu. As the face of J&K’s leading multi-specialty hospital, the ideal candidate will provide exceptional customer service while managing patient registrations, appointments, billing inquiries, and administrative support across our 20+ specialty departments serving patients from throughout the J&K region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome and greet patients, visitors, and family members with a professional and caring demeanor.
- Manage patient registration process including collecting personal information, insurance details, and medical history.
- Schedule and coordinate appointments for various specialists across 20+ medical departments.
- Handle incoming calls, transfer to appropriate departments, and provide general hospital information.
- Assist with billing inquiries, payment collection, and insurance verification processes.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure compliance with healthcare privacy regulations.
- Provide directions and guidance to patients navigating the hospital facilities.
- Manage waiting area organization and communicate wait times to patients and families.
- Coordinate with nursing staff and doctors regarding patient flow and emergency situations.
- Handle emergency situations calmly and direct patients to appropriate emergency care.
- Maintain accurate records, filing systems, and database entries for patient information.
- Support administrative tasks including documentation, reporting, and inventory management.
Qualifications:
- Required Education: 12th Grade (Higher Secondary) minimum; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience: 1-2 years in customer service, healthcare, or administrative role preferred.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Office, hospital management software, and basic data entry.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication in Hindi, English, and local languages (Dogri/Kashmiri).
- Customer Service: Strong interpersonal skills with ability to handle difficult situations with patience and empathy.

Department Interaction:
Work closely with all hospital departments including:
- OPD Departments: Coordinate appointments for specialists in cardiology, orthopedics, gynecology, ENT, and internal medicine
- Emergency Department: Direct urgent cases and communicate with emergency medical staff
- Billing Department: Process payments, insurance claims, and financial inquiries
- Pharmacy: Coordinate prescription inquiries and medication information
- Laboratory: Schedule diagnostic tests and communicate lab result inquiries
- Radiology: Arrange imaging appointments and manage patient preparation instructions
